Case Study

Keinton Mandeville School

Client Brief

We were approached by Futures for Somerset on behalf of Somerset Council for a modular nursery and classroom building for Keinton Mandeville school. The school needed a new building to help with the growing demand for childcare placements in the local area. They required a full turn key solution including groundworks, landscaping, solar panels and pedestrian access controlled gates.

A single-story modern building with wooden siding and large windows stands next to a freshly paved, empty parking lot, bordered by a wooden fence and neighboring residential homes.

The Results

At PF Modular we designed the building with the help and guidance from Futures for Somerset to meet the needs to the school. Once the design was a agreed we procured the steel modular frames and upon arrival to our site in Alton Hampshire, we quickly commenced works. Despite the challenging winter weather we were able to deliver the building and complete all works on time. Both Futures for Somerset and Somerset Council are delighted with the building the building and very happy the project was completed on time and on budget.

Challenges We Faced

Due to the location of the school site we faced some logistical challenges, the main one being having to position a very large crane on the school grounds. We came up with a solution to remove a stone wall and constructed a temporary ramp to enable access onto the school grounds for the crane to set up.

We also had to crane the modules onto site from the main road with public safety being of the upmost priority. Due to a detailed logistics plan it meant the project was carried out safely and successfully.
